LOS CUADROS DE LA DUQUESA

Una buena excusa es la perfecta coartada que usan los sentidos para deleitarse con placeres íntimos. Y así, una escapada por razones laborales a Sevilla es un buen argumento para patear de nuevo sus calles, y ya que estamos aprovechar para ver la exposición de la colección privada de pintura de la Casa de Alba, y ya que estamos darse una vuelta por la colección permanente de este Museo de Bellas Artes de Sevilla, por la que es –muchos lo desconocen- la segunda pinacoteca nacional figurativa después de El Prado.
Tenía cierta curiosidad personal por ver los valiosos cuadros que recorren quinientos años, medio milenio, de historia del arte universal. Curiosidad que emana de la coincidencia de que en Madrid vivía cerca del Palacio de Liria y, años después, en Sevilla, vivía muy cerca del Palacio de Dueñas. En ambos sitios pasaba por la puerta principal, miraba las ventanas, pensaba en Pardo Bazán o en Machado, y me imaginaba cómo viviría dentro de sus paredes la aristócrata con más títulos nobiliarios del mundo, la mayor terrateniente y –también hay que decirlo- la más hortera.
Lo que no sabía es que esta señora, camino de la urgencia del cuarto de baño, por poner un ejemplo respetuosamente escatológico, pasaría por delante del retrato que el propio Tiziano hizo a uno de sus ancestros hace más de un día. O que en cualquier almuerzo, en una discusión familiar el comedor, obras maestras de Sorolla, Renoir, Chagall, Zuloaga, Picasso, Murillo o el propio Goya, serían testigos de los comentarios sobre un pescado que estaba poco pasado.
Si pueden, y aunque tengan que guardar cola, no pierdan la oportunidad de recrearse con paisajes tristemente románticos o con retratos indolentes de miradas lánguidas donde casi siempre suele haber un perro, incluso de peluche: porque, como dice el maestro Antonio Burgos, los gatos son republicanos y los perros monárquicos.
En mi casa, de pequeño, y en muchas otras, había un tapiz setentón con la caza del ciervo –hasta se puso en el decorado de la serie “Cuéntame”-. Se ve que la duquesa, como cazaba los ciervos de verdad, tenía y tiene otro tipo de cuadros en su salita de estar de palacio.
